Dog Days Report

If you've been outside at all lately you know we've experienced some record setting heat this summer, with one heat wave barely ending when the next one begins.  Lots of things you can do to beat the heat, and one of them is to enjoy the cool comfort of the Boatworks, where there is always something going on.

The Shore Reflections Artisan Market has been open for a few weeks now, and a popular item this year are the South Jersey inspired berry baskets from Mary May.  Just today a visitor was heard remarking that one she had her eye on had been bought since her last visit.  Perhaps more will be coming.  Meanwhile, the artist recently hosted a workshop on how to create such baskets.

There were 19 participants for the workshop and all completed their basket projects in under 3 hours.  The artist is planning to hold additional workshops in the fall.

Opening today in the back room is Faux Real, the second Solo show of the summer, featuring the work of Gary Dates.  These large photo based artworks use digital effects to create fantasy images.  There are over 20 pieces in the show, which remains on display through September 18, 2015.

There will be a reception for the Faux Real show on Saturday, August 22, 2015 from 5 to 7 pm.  Admission is free.
