Pumpkin Carving Night

The warm days of summer have finally given way to the cool of autumn, making a perfect day for the BAC Pumpkin Carving Contest. A nice crowd gathered late in the afternoon at the Boatworks. Our carvers got busy with knives and other implements, and the designs quickly took shape. When people were ready for a break, there were crock pots full of tasty hot homemade soups and chili provided by some of our members. At 7:00 pm all the entries were put together on the platform, lit with candles. (you can see them above with lights on, and glowing in the dark) All those present got to vote for their favorites, and the winners were announced. The winning pumpkins can be seen in the photo of the three lit jack-o'-lanterns: in order, left to right, 1st place Wendy Green, 2nd place Paul Bonelli, 3rd place Dolores Green.
As a special treat, following the awards, the room was quickly transformed for an improptu cabaret, with our own Tim McCorry performing solo with his keyboard. Next time we see those tables, they'll have art on them.
