BAC Goes To Hot Sand

A dozen BAC members attended the October meeting, held at Hot Sand on the boardwalk in Asbury Park. After a brief general meeting, Paul Elyseev hosted and demonstrated glass casting techniques. First some of our members helped create a sand mold by pressing objects into loosely packed sand. Interest mounted and eyes opened wide as Paul gathered a ball of molten glass from his 2000+ degree furnace and poured it into the sand mold. The resulting glass sculpture must undergo an annealing process, a gradual cooling process necessary to keep the glass from cracking under stress. (photos courtesy Joe Villa)
