Patterns In Nature Opening Reception

Tonight the Boatworks hosted the opening reception for the Belmar Arts Council's Patterns in Nature Juried Photography exhibition.  Forty-one works were chosen for the show, hung in the front and back rooms of the building.

Visitors started coming through the doors at 5:00 pm and were still arriving as we closed up at 7:00 pm.  At any given time in between we usually had a few dozen people in the gallery.

When we can arrange it we like to have live music for the receptions, and today was no exception, with our old friends We Used to Cut the Grass on hand to entertain all our visitors.

Five of the photographs were awarded prizes.  Below are the award winners:

 First Place
Expression of a Tree
Joan B. Myers

 Second Place
"Sit George Sit!"
Sori Gottdenker

 Third Place
Zebra of the Serengeti
Colleen Loughran

 Fourth Place
Jellyfish Study
Andy Kazmierski

Fifth Place
Mother Nature's Ornament
Dana Cohoon

The Patterns in Nature photography exhibition will remain on display at the Boatworks through July 6, 2012.  The gallery is open Wednesday to Saturday, 1 to 5 pm.  Admission is free.
